So cool to have you all aboard the woo woo train for wonderland.
Did you notice that last definite affirmative about daily blogging? Yeah, well, I set myself an Absolute and immediately broke it. I went away and got no blogging time on the computer (although I did write quite a lot in my head!)
Anyway, I think the time has come to break some Absolutes. And I think that a few Absolute boundaries in inner consciousness would be a good start. I'm kind of gagging at an inner membrane and determined to break on through to the other side - oh, black leather trousers! (Sorry, I digress into a little Jim Morrissen memory - how ever many r's and s's you spell it with)
My point is this: As a species, a culture, a mind-set and a consciousness, we have become very aware and yet, we have not changed the fundamentals. We maintain ourselves in imbalance because we have not questioned the assumption of these fundamentals.
We work very hard at rectifying this imbalance, only to have it all go tospy turvy when we settle back to enjoy equilibrium. We have some deeply embedded patterns that we almost cannot see, because they are assumptions about who we are as humans. We re-arrange our Absolutes into different patterns and consider it advancement, but human archetypes (patterns of consciousness) keep playing out, over and over again - both the ones we have worked hard to claim, and the ones we have disowned.
Its time to blitz any residue of dis-functional humanity. Lets change our pantheon of human archetypes to ones we adore! Lets get with balanced, loving, earth-centered, connected existence. I mean, finally. Hasn't humanity been trying to live well since the beginning of recorded existential angst?! I mean, are we, or are we not, intelligent? Surely we can transcend our harmful ways?
The speed of light is not an Absolute - it can vary. This means that we get to choose the speed we want to travel at, and the kind of light we want to be. At some level of truth, we can change reality by changing the speed of light we vibrate at.
I say: unhook the comfort-zone of the Absolute and vibrate at the speed of any colours you choose. Let's get really considered, humane, balanced and true. Lets break the rules of the world according to mass-consciousness! Lets just make the world totally different and all live in peace on our beautiful earth. Okay?
Okay. Here endeth the lesson from my soapbox, See you tomorrow under the tree!

A call to integrity
So lately I am all excited: I am going to just do what I need to do, I am going to craft my integrity, I....am...going..to BLOG!
And you know what else? I am going to spread it like wildfire! I'm going to find my global tribe and connect and, well, I just want to see what happens when I practice a discipline in public! I'm even going to give up cynicism and reserve - read: limited framework - and open to the vast web and spread myself out into the world. Just 'cos I can!
Oooh, the fire of determination! For five whole days, I write daily. I get up and sit down and write. I ignore other deadlines and calls to duty - I blog first. I am focused. I will be skilled!
Well, naturally, flash-demon turns up in my spirit-ego and laughs quietly as my techie neighbour arrives on the doorstep last night. C has been serenading the nasal passages all evening and so luckily we eat first - guinea fowl with orange and rosemary (oh thank all that is glorious for a man who has decided to do his 10 000 hours in cooking!)
So, over coffee, now having a techie-type conversation subject to dabble with, I ask how to notify people when I have done a new blog. My helpful neighbour forgets to answer that bit and instead says to me:
"first thing with a blog: what do you want to say?"
Uhm...
"Next: you must tell people How To Do something. People want to know How To Do things."
Oh.
"Finally - News. What's going on in the world? This is what people want to know."
Okay...
There has been a long silence inside since. My computer refused to connect to my blog. I have done all my other deadlines. I don't know what I want to say now. I almost forgot why a bliss dragon does a blog! I cant tell you How To all-sorts-of-things, and you can find it all on the web anyway! I could tell you the state of the world, but I reckon you know that its in a state of flux?
So, I am afraid I have to say Fuck It. I am sure Google and my mother, and probably C, L and A would really prefer me not to, but every bliss dragon knows there is a time and place for everything. And now, five followers or not (five!) I am just going to have to let you all know that this blog is neither a How To nor a News Channel - although, of course it is both of those things! Sorry.
This blog is my challenge: Can I write every day - just because I want to, and it satisfies me? Can I show up without a dancing ego? Can I write without framing it for anyone else's paradigm? Can I go out into the Big Wide World and be good at what I do and in my integrity? Who knows? We'll see.
And I'm loving that Im trying.
PS. Go Followers! Yay!

A Follower!
Those of you in the know, will be aware that I recently had a flingette with Bono. This morning I awoke with him crooning "some days are better than others" in my ear - how right is that man?!
However, commitment is commitment and Google had suggested I write a piece about Following so that all my many fans can sign up and follow me. Well, guess what? I put on my computer and I HAD A FOLLOWER!!! The cutest little green witch a bliss dragon could ever hope for. You see, Bono really has got something going there?
Well, now that I have a Follower, my whole tone will have to change. You see, I was thinking that Following has a limited value - sooner or later, one has to get those wings out and fly in ones own direction, and here I am writing about freedom and authenticity and yet asking you to follow me - hmmmmm. I'm going to have to work on this one!
For now, however, I shall play Pied Piper, and ask you to push your Follow button which appears at the top of the page, and, I think (!) also works through the Google button to the right. Add your fabulous photo's to this page, so that I can get a happy surprise every time I put on this computer (which, it has to be said, is being remarkably amenable about allowing me to blog on a regular basis...but that's another story).
So, as per Google's instructions, here are my thoughts on Following: follow the yellow brick road, follow the bear, follow your star, follow the trail, follow the signs, follow the wind, follow that sound, follow instructions, follow directions, follow your nose, follow the leader, follow your path, follow the spoor, follow the sun, ooooohhh come, follow, follow, follow meeeeeeeeeee!

Temperence
I have always wanted to be a wild-crafted woman.
When I was long-ago, I went to a body practitioner for some belly-work. I was pregnant and my gut was talking! Somehow we got to somewhere and I was telling her about how I longed to be wild and free. She was disapproving, although professional.
She asked me why I felt this need to rebel, I tried to explain that wildness is not about behaviour so much as untamed Being. I told her I wanted to be Wilderness Bush. She asked me what was wrong with a golf course. I gave up. I agreed they are very beautiful, because they are, but I felt a sadness about all that regular mowing and fake-fertilising over that emerald lawn. Don't worry - she didn't understand either!
Last night, after a day of fires, I was woken by the smell of smoke. I ignored it as long as I could, snuggled as I was between warm bodies, both four-legged and two legged! Finally, it was too strong for me to ignore and I got up to see.
On the South horison was a huge, deep orange glow - wild-fire wildness having her winter party! I sighed and went back to bed. I don't feel too much fear anymore. My relationship with wild-fire has gone from yearning, to mesmerized, to quiet respect. I see that the wildness can be challenging and I no longer snicker at my golf-course sprinklers. Yep, I have gained a bit of wild-fire wisdom.
So, contemplating temperance, I went to my cupboard this morning and took out the Tsunami in a Bottle. Remember the big tsunami a few years ago, the one that washed the beaches of Thailand? Well, the wonderful CCS collected tsunami-sea-water and put it in a mayonnaise jar - Nola, the taste you can trust - and bought it to me! It even had some stones and shells in it!
Over time this Tsunami concentrated until it became essence, the water evaporated and the jar has been filled with beach sand, salt crystals, the shells and stones... and, of course, the concentrated essence of tsunami! The other day it spontaneously popped - a nice oval piece of glass made a satisfying sound and jumped out of the cupboard. It broke the bottle and released the tension.
Fire and Wind, Sand and Water. This morning I decided to honour temperance. I took the tsunami contents and placed them in a beautiful thick-glass vase and then I added feathers - lots of them. I gave my wildness large, graceful wings.
May peace reign in the bliss dragon household! Ho.

Creating brilliance
So, here I sit - fingers at the ready, poised to pour out words of wit and wonder...
This commitment to daily blogging is an interesting challenge - so much easier to say "Ive started, so I'll finish!" and be gone - with stories to tell of the hilarious day I tried to start a blog to clock up some regular discipline in being an authentic bliss dragon! You go sistah!
I'm really starting to see the lack of disciplined practice as an obstacle to my own brilliance. Please note, my brilliance, like everyone else's, is not in question here! The school psychologist told my mum that her children were like diamonds in the palm of his hand - or something like that: it might have been diamonds in her hand or even in the soles of her shoes. The point is, I thought being a diamond was all it took to shine, but I didn't realise how much work De Beers and Sterns did to get those pretty stones to catch the light! And now that I have my own two diamonds in my heart and hands, I shall be paying extra attention.
Please don't think I am being depressive or obsessive. I am feeling motivated and determined. I have lived with potential all my life. I am ready to apply it. My inner clock is saying: okay sweetheart, you are well-aged - lets up the ante a little.
Malcom Gladwell always makes me think. I am reading about Outliers like Bill Gates and the Beatles, the Successes of Absolute Note in our recent history. Their real difference is that they got an opportunity to practice their craft intensely, at a young age, and took it. This means that when their break came, they were already expert and this is the big difference between the famous extra-specials and the unfamous ones.
I realise that schooling lacks opportunity for specialisation, but then I realise that schooling would never have specialised in what I would have wanted to do with my life anyway. So, I consider this: what have I spent 10 000 hours doing - what am I expert at? Obviously C has a few comments in this regard, but I shall leave those lascivious thoughts to him and proceed with my own serious contemplations.
I see that where I have applied disciplined practice in my life, is in my belief in principle, joy and authenticity. I wish someone had told me: choose a specialisation that pays! haha.
I committed to shamanic practice at 28, that means I have done at least 10 000 hours in the field. I have also written for ages - journals rather than best sellers! I have mothered and loved, read and journeyed. I have been passionate about people, life and truth. I have talked way double the required time and thought even more... you see where I am going with this? Exactly.
And now I'm certainly not going to do 10 000 hours of winging and worrying about what I should have done with my life in order to be rich and successful. I have chosen easily more than 10 000 times not to compromise on all the things that I love and really want to spend hours doing! Perhaps this means that I have specialised in doing what I really want? Am I just waiting for the "Big Break"?
Oh it gets too complex. But here I am - I have done another blog!
So, now I shall rush off to interview for some paid writing and then I shall dream all the way home, loving my mountains, my spirit and my place. And when I get back home I shall cuddle my loved ones and say thank you that I am so disciplined that I have love, happiness and beautiful people in my life!

Ginny and the Happy List
This morning Ginny (the chicken named after Harry Potters girlfriend, of course!) came into the bedroom to lie with the cats on the heated floor - as she does. Deciding that this was not to her liking, she hopped onto the bed, found C's head and settled down on top of it in total contentment. They are still sleeping like that now. No wonder she is on the Happy List!
Yesterday, a fire started in the trees on the hill, leapt the gravel road with quick agility and cantered across our neighbour's field.
Last time a fire was on that side, it took ten minutes to cross the stream and reach our house. The time before, I nearly got separated from the kids when I left them at a neigbour's house for safety. This time, as I felt their anxiety rise, I suggested that we just get in the car and go, if the fire got too close. I had actually made this decision already - our grass is long and our water weak - I cant stand the stressful idea of running like a mad fire-fighting hooligan again.
So, I told them that I thought the fire was unlikely to cross the stream, but asked them to think about what they would like to take with them if it did. I checked that they were okay with the idea of leaving a fire to burn, and they greatly preferred the idea to any I had previously come up with. Deciding that pro-active behaviour was better than helplessly watching the flames cross the field, I sent them inside, reminding them that we could replace most things, and just to take whatever made them happy.
The fire burned out at the stream, thank you Spirit! But my heart still swells every time I think of the pile of Happy Stuff that was waiting at the door. Here's the list:
Ginny the chicken
Ratty the rat
Two fish in a Tupperware
Emergency supplies of chicken, rat, fish and cat food
Two blankets to wrap the cats in
Both kids school reports
Both kids school bags
Their home-made comforters from B
The sheepskin
Mr Stare-alot
L's coffee mug
A's jewelery box
Animal stories book
The silver sword
L's cricket bat
Home-made wand
Two toothbrushes
Deodorant
How cute is that!?

First day
So, here I am - a beginner blogger in the age of blogs!
This is a commitment to authenticity. Malcolm Gladwell, author of Outliers and Tipping Point (among others), reckons that if a person practices 10 000 hours at anything, they can become highly skilled, if not genius at it.
Well, I want to be a highly skilled genius at being myself - which has taken me quite a while because I used to think this was a complicated thing. Not so. Actually, like all great truths, its really simple: I am myself, therefore I am. But, even the simple needs to be practiced, so this is my little game.
It used to be the hundred monkeys syndrome - you know, a monkey picks up a new behaviour or idea and others start to copy it. By the time it gets to the hundredth monkey, some exponential shift occurs and all the monkeys are doing it.
Apparently this has now been found to be nothing more than a great motivational story, but it worked, for me. I wanted to change my thought paradigms and so began working on the thought-monkeys in my head. Every time a new monkey got the idea, I felt like I had achieved an incremental step forward - holding ever out for the last thought-monkey and my grand awakening experience, haha.
Well, I got there just as I discovered its not true anyway, but, because I'm good at convincing myself of anything, I chose to go with the fully integrated new paradigm and felt rather chuffed. That was before I was told that I now have to put in 10 000 hours of practice. I mean really! I should have known - there's no such thing as a free lunch, apparently, and if this dragon wants to live in permanent bliss, she will just have to put in some slog hours. Slog/blog - its a start!
